President William Ruto’s two days’ development tour in the Nyanza region started on a high note with local leaders and residents extending a warm reception to the Head of State.
And in what seemed to mend the antagonistic political tone with a region largely controlled by his political nemesis, Azimio Coalition and opposition leader Raila Odinga, the President extended an olive branch saying he will work with all leaders to achieve the development and the wellbeing of the Kenyan people.
Speaking during his tour in Homa Bay County, President Ruto assured that no region will be left behind in terms of development regardless of its political inclination.
“I want to assure you as I guarantee all Kenyans that no Kenyan, community, or county that will be neglected… we are all going to move forward together. I want you to know that we have agreed with your leaders to work together and I am ready for that. (Mimi nataka kuwahakikishia nikiwahakikishia wakenya wote ya kwamba hakuna mkenya, hakuna jamii ama county itabaki nyuma, tutaenda sote pamoja. Nataka pia mjue kwamba tumekubaliana kufanya kazi na viongozi wenu na mimi niko tayari).” Ruto said.
The president revealed that the government has already kicked off various development projects in Homabay including the setup of a Sh300 million fish market.
“We are done with politics. It is time to focus on development and I am ready to work all elected leaders in this region,” Ruto said while addressing residents in Homa Bay town
“I have had a meeting with governor Gladys Wanga and elected leaders in Homa Bay and they have highlighted the various projects we should undertake to improve your livelihoods,” he added
The President further proceeded to launch the first phase of the Affordable Housing project in Homabay County.
“The government is putting up 5,000 units under the affordable housing project. We are starting with 110 units and the project will benefit the town of Mbita, Sindo, Kendubay and Mbita,” Ruto said
Homabay governor Gladys Wanga welcomed the President saying the visit was crucial in enhancing the county’s development agenda.
“We are working with the national government to improve and strengthen our county’s development efforts,” Wanga said.
Ruto is on his two-day tour of Homa Bay county where he is expected to launch several projects.
