Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha has today reiterated government’s commitment in offering support to county governments to provide adequate healthcare.
Nakhumicha spoke in Nyeri after she paid Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga a courtesy call in a flurry of inroads the CS has been making across the country.
According to insiders in her team, the CS has code-named the visitations a familiarisation countrywide tour to assess health needs in the respective counties.
“During the meeting the CS reaffirmed the government’s commitment in supporting all county governments to improve access to affordable and quality healthcare.” An official from MoH present during the meeting said.
The two discussed a wide range of health issues including areas of collaboration between the two levels of government, among them, support to health facilities in a bid to bring services closer to the residents.
Governor Kahiga on his part said his administration is ready to work with the national government to help deliver on its pre-election pledges especially on universal health coverage.
