The former Mathira constituency Member of Parliament (MP) and one of the longest serving parastatal chairman Matu Wamae is dead.
Wamae passed on at his home yesterday evening.
He was also the chairman of the Kenya Cooperative Creameries (KCC) for 15 years before being succeeded by Ignatius Kahiu.
Born in Kianyingi village in Mathira constituency in 1933, the 89-year-old served three consecutive terms from 1983 to 1988, when he was defeated by Ngibuini Kuguru, and again from 1992 to 2002, when Nderitu Gachagua was elected on a Narc- Kenya ticket.
He wrote the book ‘Born to Serve,’ in which he recounted Moi’s 24-year rule and its impact on the Kikuyu community.
