Azimio One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga has postponed the anti-government rally that was scheduled to take place tomorrow in Kamukunji, Nairobi.
While addressing a press conference after the coalition’s Parliamentary Group meeting at SKM Command Center in Karen, Minority leader Opiyo Wandayi said that the cancelling of the rally was to allow for the completion of the ongoing national examinations.
“We have to reschedule the start of our public engagements to December 7 due to the ongoing national examinations,” Wandayi said.
The aim of the rallies was to seek opinions from the public on the petition to remove the four Independent Electoral Commission (IEBC) commissioners.
The petitions filed in parliament want IEBC vice chairperson Juliana Cherera and commissioners Irene Masit, Justus Nyang’aya and Francis Wanderi kicked out for gross misconduct by walking out on IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati during the announcement of the final presidential elections.
They are also accused of demonstrating open bias after attempting to alter the presidential results to force a run off.
However, Raila said the four chose to stand with the truth and that is why Kenya Kwanza is pushing a petition to oust them.
