Detectives have arrested an 18-year old male teenage student after attempting to sneak into a neighbouring girls’ secondary school in Nyeri county.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the student who belongs to Gatugi Day secondary school was arrested while passing off as one of the girls at a neighbouring school within the county in an attempt to meet with his girlfriend.
“A mission by a teenage young man to meet his girlfriend at a secondary school in Nyeri county last night, was nipped in the bud after the 18-year-old was unmasked by other girls who raised alarm,” DCI stated.
Before his arrest, the young man who was dressed in the girls’ school uniform, joined a group of girls as they walked to their dormitories from their evening preps.
He then sought to know the whereabouts of a specific girl but his husky unfamiliar voice prompted the girl to look closer and realised that he was a man dressed in their uniform.
“She immediately started screaming prompting a cacophony of screams from the other girls, as they fled to different directions in bewilderment, almost causing a stampede,” DCI stated.
Following the commotion, the school guard rushed to the dormitories where he found the teenager planning his escape out of the school compound.
“The guard immediately went after him and just before the young lad jumped over the school perimeter, he pounced on his shoulders and pinned him on the ground, aborting his seemingly well planned mission,” DCI added.
The school principal alerted police officers who responded immediately and the teenager was whisked to Othaya police station.
On questioning, the teenager told officers that he had been invited over by his girlfriend for some unspecified business, that the officers could not immediately establish.
The police recovered three condoms, a mobile phone and a lighter from the student.
