The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) in partnership with the World Muslim League of Saudi Arabia have today launched a two-day training program for Imams at Jamia Mosque, in Nairobi.
The launch of the two days’ workshop was presided over by Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale and Nassir Alfuraidi, Deputy Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Kenya.
Participants are expected to discuss key topical issues which include peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance between the two states and interfaith relations calling on the Imams to preach peace.
“Kenya is the only African country that has manifested freedom of worship as per the constitution.” Duale said.
The CS acknowledged that Kenya continue to constitutionally recognise independence of religions by supporting and protecting its citizens under Islam religion and allowing the Muslim faithfuls to practice Islam culture without fear and favour.
On his part, Alfuraidi called on all the Imams to preach peace and coexistence amongst the members and the society at large.
Duale asked the Imams to inculcate the right values and virtues and ensure the country is a God fearing one.
