Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader Raila Odinga, has affirmed that he will retrieve the win he claims was stolen from him during the August 9 polls.
While attending a funeral service of the mother of Bondo parliamentary aspirant Andiwo Mwai in Nyamira county, Raila accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of conspiring with foreigners to steal votes, depriving Kenyans of the opportunity to choose the leaders they wanted.
He promised his supporters that all was not lost and that he would devise plans to achieve electoral justice while thanking them for coming out in big numbers to vote for him.
“I first want to thank you very much for voting for me as expected. We know what happened and no one should lie to you that there was low voter turnout out in my strongholds,” he said.
Raila urged his followers to be ready as he finished the marshal plan without going into detail about how he intended to reclaim his victory.
“We know what happened but we will talk about it in the coming days,” he said.
“Are you ready for us to chase the thieves who have stolen our cows and driven them to the other side of the village? We must return our cows home,” he alluded.
He emphasized that if the security of their ballots cannot be ensured, Kenyans will not be required to vote in the 2027 general elections.
“We cannot have a situation where people wake up in the morning and religiously cast their votes only for some foreigners to make decisions on their behalf,” he said.
On the other hand, Raila reprimanded the government for deciding to lift the ban on Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO), stating that they would not consent to the action.
“They say that they are allowing GMOs to boost food security which is not true. The research that was conducted by France, Germany and Sweden established the dangers associated with GMO,” Raila said.
“The GMOs are dangerous to our health. We must protect our people,” he added.
In an effort to broaden his base of support in Nyanza, Raila also warned against being divided by politicians who, in his words, are only looking out for themselves.
