Serah Kioko, National Assembly clerk has released the schedule outlining when the Committee on Appointments will vet the cabinet secretary nominees.
Through a statement, all the Cabinet designates were allocated each a specific time and day when they are set to appear before the Committee on Appointments.
“Pursuant to provisions of Article 118 of the Constitution, Section 6(4) of the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act (No.33 of 2011) and Standing Order 45(3), the general public is hereby notified that the Committee on Appointments shall conduct the approval hearings (vetting) of the persons nominated for appointment as Cabinet Secretaries, Secretary to the Cabinet and Attorney General,” read the statement.
As indicated in the notice, the candidates are required to present before the committee their original Identification details, academic and professional certificates.
They are also required to present letters of clearance and compliance from Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission (EACC), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loan Board (HELB), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
Moses Wetangula, National Assembly Speaker serves as the committee’s chairperson.
Other members include Nelson Koech, from Belgut, Rahab Mukami, from Nyeri, Dido Ali Raso, from Saku, George Murugara, from Tharaka, David Gikaria, from Nakuru East, Ferdinand Wanyonyi, from Kwanza, Mary Emaase, from Teso South, Abdul Rahim Dawood, from North Imenti, Junet (Likoni).
Chief Cabinet Secretary Nominee Musalia Mudavadi will be the first to be vetted on Monday at 9am.
At 2:30 pm on Saturday, October 22, Mercy Wanjau, will be vetted for the Secretary to the Cabinet position, and will be the final person to appear before the Committee on Appointments.
The Nairobi Parliament Buildings will host the vetting.
