Two imposters masquerading as the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) inspectors have been nabbed at Nyangoma area of Siaya county.
Through their Twitter handle, PPB board says the arrest was assisted by members of the public following the alert notice posted on October 6 on social media.
The alert indicated that fraudsters and imposters claiming to be the pharmaceutical inspectors soliciting money from unsuspecting pharmaceutical professionals who want their services fast tracked.
“The imposters have been calling pharmaceutical professionals through telephone numbers +254720651505 and +254727515772 claiming to be from the board with false hope of fast-tracking ppb services,” read the notice.
PPB explicitly said that it does not reach out to professionals by phone before conducting any regulatory inspection, therefore calling on victims of such scams to report immediately to the law enforcement agencies or to poison and pharmacy board for appropriate action to be taken.
The will be prosecuted after full investigations are complete
