The Jubilee Party headquarters which is housed at the Emani Business Centre has been set for auction.
In an advert today, auctioneers said the building will be auctioned on September 13 in Westlands, Nairobi.
The property is registered under Florence Wairimu Mbugua of Farmers Industry Limited.
“All that parcel of land known as LR no 209/1530 Emani Business Centre along Thika Road, Pangani area registered under Farmer Industry Limited, with a plinth area of 34, 000 square feet,” the advert read.
The advertisement further says all bidders are required to produce a bidding deposit of Sh5 million before being allowed to bid.
“Bidders will be required to produce a bidding deposit of Sh5 million by way of cash or banker’s cheque before being allowed to bid,” read the auction notice.
Jubilee which is the current ruling party was founded on September 8, 2016, following the merger of 11 smaller parties.
Jubilee party leased the complex seven-story building in 2016, a year ahead of the 2017 General Election.
Since then, the party has been rocked with unsettled rental arrears.
Back in 2021, Auditor General Nancy Gathungu questioned how they spent Sh87 million on rent for the premises yet failed to register the lease agreement for the property with the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning to justify the payments.
The buzz of activities in the President Uhuru Kenyatta led party has however scaled down after fallout with his deputy William Ruto.
