Two police officers have been suspended following an incident where the duo mishandled a man in a Kasarani bar only to realise later that he was their senior.
This is after the two officers, Constables Marwa Matiko and Charles Maina were interdicted on the grounds of unacceptable police behaviour.
After an altercation sparked by a woman smoking in the bar, Constables Matiko and Maina allegedly harassed Jackson Owino, the Kayole DCIO.
According to a report seen by The Informer, Owino had gone to Seasons Lounge to have his official vehicle washed when he noticed a woman smoking inside the bar.
The woman, identified as Elizabeth Wangari, insulted the DCIO and left hurriedly after telling him that he should know people.
She returned later in the company of two police officers, Matiko who dressed in official police uniform armed with a Scorpion rifle and Maina, who was in civilian clothes.
The two confronted DCIO Owino, asking him why he was harassing Wangari. During the incident, the revelers fled from the Bar.
The police report indicates that police constable Matiko walked out of the bar and fired four 9mm rounds from his Scorpion rifle.
After an argument lasting up to four hours, the two disarmed Owino of his Ceska pistol, handcuffed him, then frog-marched him to the Kasarani Police Station, two kilometres away, amid kicks and blows.
