President Uhuru Kenyatta has refuted claims that he called a meeting with elected leaders from Central Kenya.
Kenyatta, through his Spokesperson Kanze Dena, said that there was no planned meeting. Kanze said that the President’s diary was full of activities that run through the weekend.
“The President did not convene nor postpone any such meeting. Therefore, the information is false and misleading,” she added.
According to the reports circulating, the President had called the leaders from Mt. Kenya today at State House Nairobi. The meeting was then called off.
Interestingly, the meeting was set the same day that Deputy President William Ruto is to pitch his tent in Gatundu.
The President has lashed at his people over the massive defects from his Jubilee party to the United Democratic Alliance party, which his deputy shall use for his presidential bid.
During the UDA -NDC jubilees Majority Whip Kimani Wamatangi and a group of other Jubilee elected leaders abandoned Jubilee.
It is suspected that the President might have cancelled the meeting to avoid the embarrassment of losing grip in his backyard.
