Acclaimed as an astute businessman, political power broker and mister fix it, formerly media shy Jimmy Richard Wanjigi could finally find refuge in the Deputy President William Ruto’s fold after falling out with his longtime friend Azimio La Umoja Movement leader Raila Odinga.
Wanjigi seems to have also severed ties after momentarily displaying short-lived political dalliance with One Kenya Alliance (OKA) leaders Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) Kanu’s Gideon Moi and United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Cyrus Shakhalaga Khwa Jirongo.
In what painted Wanjigi as an unwelcome guest within OKA shortly after castigating Raila’s led party Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) which he had expressed interest to challenge Raila for the presidential party nominations, Kalonzo asked Wanjigi to first resolve their issues within ODM.
Gideon further asked Wanjigi not to court Kalonzo towards DP’s led Kenya Kwanza Movement bringing together Ruto’s United Democratic Movement (UDA), Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANc) and Ford Kenya of Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.
Wanjigi had in recent days been attending OKA meetings but was noticeably absent yesterday at the Kalonzo Musyoka Command Center during the signing of Deed of Assignment among Wiper, Kanu, UDP and Martha Karua’s Narc Kenya, Wanjigi was promiscuously absent.
He was allegedly thrown out for being Ruto’s mole and his constant attacks on Azimio laUmoja leader.
“Jimmy made it very clear he is in ODM until they resolve his issues with the party, he is not on the table.” Kalonzo said.
Speculations were rife that he would form an alliance with OKA principals after a consultative meeting.
While speaking during a past function in Kitui, Wanjigi stated that OKA Principals are his good friends.
“I want you leaders and Kenyans to get me clearly. I am a very good friend to the OKA principals but I am not in OKA. I have my party called ODM. That is my party but OKA are my very good friends,” he stated.
The businessman who has also expressed interest in the presidency said that despite supporting Odinga in past elections, he betrayed his supporters by entering into a handshake deal with Kenyatta without involving them.
“My good friend Raila Odinga has betrayed all of us. Kenyans deserve a leader who puts their interest first. Economic liberation is my promise to all Kenyans. The time for true leadership has come,” he said.
Wanjigi said he will not succumb to intimidation and threats saying his arrest had nothing to do with land but his political stand equating the same to political persecution.
