All Civil servants who have not received Covid-19 jab have until August 23 or risk disciplinary action.
Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua said that all civil servants will be prioritised in the ongoing vaccination exercise and that those who will not have been given the first jab by August 23 will be disciplined.
“It has therefore been decided that all civil servants will be prioritized in the ongoing vaccination exercise and that those who will not have been given the 1st jab by August 23,2021 be treated as discipline cases and appropriate action taken against them,” said Kinyua.
According to Kinyua, there was low uptake of the vaccines among public servants especially in the security sector, teachers and the core civil service against a background of access to vaccines having greatly improved among the groups.
Additionally, he observed that some public servants have deliberately avoided getting vaccinated so that they can stay away from work under the guise of working from home hence affected service delivery to the public negatively affecting service delivery to the public.
He instructed Principal Secretaries and accounting officers to ensure full implementation of the decision.
The country received a further 180,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine on Friday in a boost to ongoing vaccination efforts amid increased Covid-19 cases across the country.

Speaking at JKIA after receiving the consignment, National Taskforce on Vaccine Deployment Chair Dr. Willis Akhwale said the government expects to have vaccinated 10 million people by the end of this year.
A total of 1,804,375 vaccines had been administered across the country with total first doses standing at 1,105,470 while 698,905 second doses had been administered.
The proportion of adults fully vaccinated is 2.6 per cent.
