Troubled Ekeza Sacco has announced that plans are underway to see the Sacco that has lost confidence among most Kenyans revived.
Founder, David Ngari alias Gakuyo said he has drawn a time plan for refunding Sh2.4 billion that was audited as having been misappropriated by the senior management under his leadership.
So far, Ngare said he has managed to reconstitute the board back which has managed to refund close to Sh 20 million to be people who had invested Sh 10,000 and below.
“ We are have already mapped out plans that will see our sacco back on its feet again. I want to assure our members that Ekeza is not dying and it is not going to die any time soon”, assured Ngare.
Ngare said the sacco has lended close to Sh600 million which he said will play a big role in seeing most of these debts cleared.
However, Ngari maintained that the sacco will only be remitting money back to all those who had applied for withdrawals not just anyone.
“ We will be printing names on newspapers, broadcast on live tv and radios of all our members who will come to collect their money very soon”, said Ngari.
Ekeza Sacco has been hitting headlines after it emerged that the televeangelist who is the founder embezzled members funds.
The money that was apparently transferred to his personal account belonged to 78,000 members of the savings and Credit Company.
However, Ngari said since the Government reinstated the license of the troubled sacco he has been working day and night to see the sacco back to live.
Moving forward, Ngari said he would not allow politics to interfere with the daily business of the sacco.
