Police hunt killers after Githurai assault turns fatal
Police in Githurai Sub-County have launched investigations into the death of a 25-year-old man who succumbed to injuries after allegedly being assaulted by unknown attackers at Northlands Farm in Mwiihoko.
The deceased, identified as Dennis Kibutu Kiarie, was reportedly found seriously injured after his father received a phone call from an unidentified person requesting urgent assistance.
According to police, the caller used a telephone number provided by the victim to inform his father that Kiarie had been assaulted. Guided by the caller, the father rushed to Northlands Farm, where he found his son writhing in pain with serious injuries.
He immediately rushed Kiarie to Lang’ata Hospital in Githurai Kimbo for emergency treatment before he was referred to Gatundu Level 5 Hospital due to the severity of his condition.
Despite efforts by medical personnel, Kiarie succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Police officers later visited both the scene of the attack at Northlands Farm and the mortuary, where the body was taken. Preliminary observations revealed visible defensive injuries on both of the deceased’s arms, suggesting he may have struggled with his attackers before sustaining fatal injuries.
The body has been preserved at the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination as detectives continue investigations.
Police said the motive behind the assault remains unknown and efforts are underway to identify and arrest those responsible for the attack.
In a separate incident, detectives in Kaloleni Sub-county, Kilifi County, are investigating the murder of a 77-year-old man whose body was discovered near Makomboani Dispensary.
The deceased was identified by relatives as Chengo Katana Yaa. Police have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding his death and bring those responsible to justice.
