Jubilee party wrangles continue deepening as members blame the party top officials for Kiambaa by-election loss.
The party has recorded streak of losses in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s own backyard finding itself in a blame game.
A section of its Member of Parliament(MPs) are calling for the removal of three top Jubilee Party officials who are; Raphael Tuju, David Murathe and Nelson Dzuya.
The fresh pressure mounted on Dzuiya, Murathe and Tuju to resign comes weeks after Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui and his Kirinyaga counterpart Ann Waiguru also called on the team to quit following the poor show of Jubilee in Juja and Rurii ward by-elections.
According to Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja, the officials must account to the members what they have done to the party and where the problem is.
“Jubilee is not dead, however, the official have to sit down and account to members what they have done with our party and where the problem is,” he said.
“Jubilee haijakufa, lakini lazima tukae, wale ambao wamepatiwa usukani must account to the members what they have done with our party na shida pahali imetokea.”
Kieni MP Kanini Kega said they have to make some painful and hard decisions as they move forward saying that the officials should resign.
“If you are a Jubilee national official and your name is not in the list, kindly submit your letter of resignation immediately before we physically eject you from the headquarters,” Kanini wrote on social media on Saturday.
He listed the President, deputy secretary general Joshua Kutuny, acting executive director Wambui Gichuru and director of communication Albert Memusi as those who should not resign.
According to Kanini, they are doing some in-house cleaning and officials who did not offer the necessary leadership must go.
Sabina Chege said that Jubilee is a strong party but there are a few bad people around the party.
The best thing they need to do according to Chege, is to restructure and also involve a lot of young people.
However, Jubilee deputy secretary general Joshua Kutuny yesterday said the party’s technical committee will meet today ahead of a planned retreat.
On Friday, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission announced United Democratic Alliance candidate Njuguna Wanjiku the winner.
Wanjiku garnered 21,773 to beat Jubilee’s Kariri Njama who got 21,263 votes in Kenyatta’s turf.
George Koimburi of PEP who was being supported by Deputy President William Ruto beat Jubilee’s Susan Njeri in Juja after he garnered 12 ,159 votes against her 5,746 votes.
