Royal Gas cited for counterfeit claim

Royal Gas and Energy Limited located off Enterprise Road in Nairobi has been cited for liquefied petroleum gas counterfeit malpractice by refilling and trading with LPG cylinders of other licensees for gain without consent.

Through a public notice by Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), the authority undertook random surveillance and enforcement on liquefied petroleum gas businesses in a bid to enhance compliance, security, and safety and promote consumer protection.

“During the period 1st July-30th September 2022(one) facility Royal gas and Energy Limited was found undertaking liquefied petroleum gas malpractice,” the notice read.

The notice further read according to Section 11 (e) of the Energy Act 2019 to make and enforce directions to ensure compliance with this Act and with the conditions of licenses issued under the Act.

“Additionally the petroleum requires persons to undertake the business of liquefied petroleum gas in accordance with the terms and conditions of valid licenses issued by the Authority,” the notice read.
