17 arrested in Nyamira for contravening Covid rules

Seventeen people have been arrested in Nyamira county for contravening Ministry of Health protocols to curb the spread of Covid-19 disease.

The 17 contravened rules ranging from failure to wear masks, contravening of curfew hours, consuming alcoholic drinks beyond curfew hours and selling of liquor beyond curfew hours.

Riontonyi Police Station OCS James Ng’eny who led a team of security officers in arresting seven of the culprits in Nderema and Isoge area in Borabu Sub-county stated that they will not hesitate to arrest anyone contravening health directives to curb spread of Covid-19.

The other 10 were arrested in Nyamira North Sub-county for contravening curfew hours and consuming alcoholic drinks in public beyond curfew hours.

The seven from Borabu will be arraigned in Keroka and the other 10 in Nyamira Law Courts today
