Security has been beefed up in Molo and Kuresoi North constituencies following tension that had started building up in Muchorwe and Sasumwa areas.
This is after the body of middle aged man was found murdered in unclear circumstances on Monday night along the Molo-Olenguruone road causing unease among the communities living in the area.
Political leaders alongside security agencies from Molo and Kuresoi North convened a high level security meeting during which they calmed the situation that was likely to escalate.
The residents had started living in fear after members of the community from which the young man hailed from warned that they will be seeking revenge for their fallen brother.
Kuresoi North Deputy County Commissioner Wilberforce Barasa urged the residents to inform the police on any signs of violence before the situation gets out of control.
“Our offices are open to you any day and any information volunteered to us shall be handled with confidentiality. Report to us as early as possible to evacuate animosity,” the DC said.
Molo OCPD Daniel Kamanza warned politicians aspiring for various seats against inciting members of the public in their campaigns saying it could spark violence as witnessed during past election period.
“Let peace and integration be in the forefront of your campaigns. Any politician caught spreading hatred shall be arrested and prosecuted without hesitation,” Kamanza said.
