Woman arrested for burning eight-year old daughter
A woman was today arrested after burning her eight-year old step daughter thighs with hot water at Kyang’ombe area of Kitengela, Kajiado County.
Gladys Mayaka Onyancha is said to have burnt her step daughter on Saturday and locked her indoors.
Kitengela police officers in conjunction with the members of the public rescued the class two pupil at around 8pm Monday arresting the woman in question.
It is said the woman was angry after her daughter went playing in a nearby plot against her mother’s wish.
Angry residents accused the woman of mistreating the girl under the watch of his father who is a pastor of Kitengela Pentecostal church.
“We as neighbors are very disappointed on the way these woman has been treating the young girl. We are concerned on how she has been over whelming her with difficult house chores and restricting her from playing with her fellow children. We have seek audience with the father but he has always told us off saying we are interfering with her family,’’said John Muthui, area community policy officer.
The girl father who appeared at the police station after arrest of her wife claimed he was not aware of what transpired but found her ailing daughter that fateful day.
