Wiper picks Julius Malombe for Kitui governor’s race

Wiper Democratic Movement on Tuesday settled on the former Kitui Governor Julius Makau Malombe as its candidate for the nominee position of the Kitui gubernatorial contest in the August poll.

The party says it has settled at Malombe through consensus between Malombe and the current Kenyan Ambassador to Uganda, Hon Kiema Kilonzo.

Kalonzo defending the consensus method, said that the party included scientific surveys, religious leaders’ concuss, and National Executive Council (NEC) resolutions.

He further said that this method was best if the party was to offer solid competition from its competitors.

Deputy speaker Jessicah Mbalu also got the direct ticket after her competitor William Malile agreed to support her in the running for the third term.

In his acceptance speech, Malombe agreed to work with all party members, MPs, senators and women Representative to capture all the elective seats in Kitui County.
