DP Ruto says his economic plan will tame excessive borrowing

Deputy President William Ruto has said his new economic plan is the only answer to tame excessive borrowing and boost tax collection in Kenya.

Speaking at his Karen residence in Nairobi when he met grassroots and religious leaders from Machakos County, he said his economic model creates jobs and boosts small businesses into bigger enterprises.

“We are looking for a leader with a plan. A national leader. A tribal leader would not solve the problems facing the country,” he said.

Additionally, Ruto said that all Kenyans must fully participate in the political decisions of the country.

According to Ruto, ordinary Kenyans had been left out of the country’s political conversation for long, with issues touching on prominent and wealthy personalities taking centre-stage.

He said poverty is still a major issue in the country because most of the people’s aspirations were neglected.

“Some people have not understood that ordinary Kenyans, too, can plan their own political destiny and succeed,” he added.

To reverse this trend, Ruto said, it was time the poor were given the political and
economic attention that they deserve.

He said ordinary Kenyans will be given the optimum consideration that will change their fortunes through the bottom-up economic model.

Present were MPs Victor Munyaka, Vincent Musyoka, Nimrod Mbai, the United
Democratic Alliance Chairman Johnson Muthama and several MCAs.

The MCAs vowed to back Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.

Munyaka said the Ukambani region had suffered for long because of making wrong
political decisions.

“We are now keen on being at the decision table that will form the next government; this party (UDA) will be the political outfit of choice in Ukambani,” he said.
