Waiguru’s quest to reenergise the dwindling Jubilee Party

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru is in pursuit of reenergizing the dwindling Jubilee Party.
According to her, the party carries the dreams and aspirations of many Kenyans and it was built on the strengths of many.
“As we head to 2022 we must recognize that the Party is now operating in a new context far different from 10 years ago. We have a much younger generation dominating the electorate. Our outlook and strategies must suit the times and so we must be willing to step off our comfort zones and embrace new ways of thinking and doing. We need a reenergized Jubilee that projects the face of Kenya in all its diversities,” she stated.
She noted that the party should be pragmatic and re-open both the sides and back of the tent for people to enter and re enter.
Additionally, she said that a lot of futures are tied to the fate of the party and they must restore its vision, glory and stature or contend with predictable consequences.
Waiguru’s worry is that if the party does not adjust and adapt to the changing times, it might shed the massive support that it once enjoyed to the extent that it formed government on two occasions.
“The party became what it was because of it’s diverse and broad support base. The rains have beaten us. Our fortunes are dwindling. Intense introspection is demanded,” she said.
The Jubilee Party may not survive beyond the primaries depending on the fate of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
If Jubilee Party retains power, internal competition will increase as the succession race intensifies.
