President Uhuru Kenyatta flew to Kisumu on Friday evening ahead of the Mashujaa Day celebrations on Saturday in Kakamega.
Kisumu Governor Anyang Nyong’o received the president the the First lady Margaret Kenyatta at the Kisumu airport.
“This evening I received President @UKenyatta at Kisumu International Airport ahead of tomorrow’s Mashujaa Day celebrations to held at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega county,” Nyong’o said in a tweet.
Officials confirmed on Wednesday that preparations for the festivities are complete.
Security has been enhanced with the presence of KDF around the showground.
Visiting Namibian President Hage Gottfried Geingob will be the guest of honour in this year’s fete.
