Chinese President Xi Jinping win third term as China’s president

China’s President Xi Jinping has been re-elected as General-Secretary of Communist Party of China for record third five-year term.

Xi, who is 69-years-old scrapped the mandatory retirement age of 68.

He was elected a day earlier by the congress despite concluding his ten-year tenure. The central committee members pick 25-member political bureau to run the country’s affairs.

Soon after his election, the President appeared with the newly elected committee to give a brief statement on the election.

However, this move has been opposed by several senior leaders some failing to appear at the central committee, reports indicate that Former President Hu Jintao, who ruled for 10-years-old is currently under house arrest for objecting.
