Additional roles for CSs Mudavadi, Duale and Mvurya as Ruto assign them new ministries in acting capacity

President William Ruto has assigned Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) Musalia Mudavadi, Aden Duale and Salim Mvurya additional dockets in an acting capacity.

Through a dispatch from State House announced by the Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, Mudavadi, the current Prime CaS and CS for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, will also double as the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy CS in an acting capacity.

“… As the Cabinet Secretary nominees undergo the requisite parliamentary approval process, His Excellency the President has assigned acting Cabinet Secretaries to the vacant ministerial portfolios,” Koskei said.

Duale, the current CS for Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, will also handle the Agriculture and Livestock Development docket while Mvurya, who heads the Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports Ministry, will be the acting Investments, Trade and Industry Ministry CS.

The new assignments follow president Ruto’s December 19, 2024 cabinet reshuffle, in which saw Kipchumba Murkomen was moved from Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports and nominated to head the Interior and National Administration docket.

Murkomen was replaced by Mvurya, formerly the CS for Investments, Trade, and Industry.

Former Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui was nominated to take over the Trade Ministry which Mvurya headed, while Mutahi Kagwe, the former CS in retired president Uhuru Kenyatta’s government, was put forth for the Agriculture Ministry.

William Kabogo is the CS nominee for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy ministry.
