Misinformation by opposition making public lose faith in government, Spokesperson Mwaura claim

Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has decried that members of the public as fast losing faith in the government.
Mwaura blamed the opposition over alleged misinformation despite the government having a full machinery to communicate its own agenda and achievements.
The blame shift comes at a time the President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration is facing growing public discontent over rampant graft in public institutions, bad governance, human rights abuses and stalled government flagship projects riddled with controversies.
However, speaking while he was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary for Tourism Rebecca Miano at Ol-Joroorok Stadium in Nyandarua County on Saturday, October 11, 2025 during a Public engagement forum, Mwaura reaffirmed government’s commitment to tackle and deal with the escalating threat of misinformation and disinformation, emphasising the need for Kenyans to discern the truth from falsehood.
“Kenyans are being fed with false propaganda and misinformation by the opposition, a move that has led to many discrediting the government and losing faith in it,” said Mwaura.
“You the people of Nyandarua voted for President William Ruto’s government. Do not accept to be misled to abandon it, if there’s a problem we can see how to sort it out,” Mwaura pleaded with audience.
They pledged that government officers would “hit the ground running” to listen to the people and the challenges they were facing, while at the same time expounding on crucial programmes and projects being undertaken.
“Lack of proper information by the public had led to many of them losing faith with the government but there is need as a country to engage in deep reflection on these issues,” states Mwaura, while noting that the unchecked spread of false information b severely erodes the national fabric.
The two officials urged Kenyans to support the government for significant development and emphasized that the populace can only access essential services like improved road infrastructure and water through the leadership in power.
Miano on her part castigated those who oppose every development initiative for the sake of it while at the same time spreading malicious propaganda.
She enumerated a number of key development projects the Kenya Kwanza administration was undertaking across the country, among them the Affordable Housing project, rural electrification, improvement of major roads to bitumen and others.
