Third petition seeking DPP Haji’s removal from office filed at PSC
Woes of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji continues to deepen after a Nairobi-based businessman filed the third petition seeking his removal.
Director of Jack and Jill Supermarkets Schon Noorani has petitioned Public Service Commission (PSC) to institute proceedings leading to Haji’s removal over alleged gross misconduct.
Noorani claims that Haji is guilty of several offenses including abuse of office, incompetence, gross misconduct, favoritism, partiality, disregard of the rule of law, delay in the administration of justice, and non-compliance with chapter six of the Constitution, among others.
“The DPP’s lack of impartiality and preferential treatment is an abuse of office….which is contrary to the provisions enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and grounds that warrant removal and resignation of the DPP from office,” he said.
Through lawyers Danstan Omari and Shadrack Wambui, Noorani accused Haji of refusing to charge his former business associate Rajendra Sanghani.
He claims that Sanghani took a loan from him in 2015 that has since accrued to Sh240 million and he has refused to pay.
According to the petition, the businessman the DPP has insisted that the case is a civil matter despite it amounting to obtain money by false pretences.
