Kenya Airways probes boeing plane that lost contact in Germany

Kenya Airways (KQ) have launched a probe on an incident where a Boeing plane lost contact with Air Traffic control while flying over Germany on September 20.
According to KQ, the plane, 5Y-KZE, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, was en route to Amsterdam in the Netherlands from Nairobi.
However, pilots were able to re-establish communications using an alternative frequency and continued with the flight.
“The incident is not uncommon in aviation, as an aircraft may ocassionally lose contact with Air Traffic Control for a variety of reasons; power failure, when flying in a zone with poor reception or a miss frequency change,” stated KQ.
Following reports by Aviation Herald, a flight incident tracker, the airline lost communication with authorities while in German airspace.
The report stated that two Eurofighters were dispatched to intercept the aircraft causing “wake up” calls by supersonic booms to many residents on the ground from Landshut to Frankfurt.
“Germany’s DFS reported communication with a Kenyan Aircraft had been lost prompting information to Germany’s Bundeswehr who dispatched two Eurofighters. Germany’s Bundeswehr reported they were dispatching two Eurofighters to intercept an airliner with destination Amsterdam,” Aviation Herald wrote.
The interception resulted in the restoration of communication and the Dreamliner continued to Amsterdam for a safe landing about 30 minutes later.
