Netizens poke holes at DCI choice of Muvota murder suspect

Kenyans on social media have come out guns blazing poking holes at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) team after they posted a photo of a man allegedly involved in the broad daylight killing of Samuel Mugo Muvota.

Muvota, who was shot dead at Mirema court in Kasarani on May 16, was identified and the detectives sprung into action looking for one Denis Karani Gachoki.

However, netizens have questioned the weight of the said suspect who was seen on the trending video footage captured on the CCTV cameras.

One Kibiro Kenneth questioned the suspect posted by DCI on their social media platforms asking the shooter why he had gained so much weight overnight.

“Si me naona the shooter ni mslim au hii picha mumeweka alienda aka jiweka pumzi,” Kibiro posed.

Another netizen Kinoti Wa Mwirigi questioned why the said photo posted by DCI differed from that one seen in the CCTV footage.

“But the murderer was slim. Huyu ni kampumpum, Ama alikonda later? Kinoti posed. Another social media user by the name of Wanjohi showed exculpation, saying justice had been served to the merciless gang.

“Huyu ni yeye ametukulisha pishori karibu bypass mzima. Good work they don’t have mercy I am one of the victims of this merciless gang, but with ring leader gone is our hope the gang is neutralised now. Wametuonesha,” DCI said.

According to DCI the wanted man is in possession of a firearm believed to have been snatched from a police officer who was stupefied at a popular joint in Mombasa in November 2020.

Efforts by detectives to arrest him have been futile since the thug who is endowed financially influences rogue cops who tip him off once an operation for his arrest has been launched.

On one occasion, Gachoki’s accomplice was texted minutes before his arrest, throwing a spanner in the works of a scrupulous operation.

Gachoki is said to have, recently fallen out with his boss Muvota over sharing of proceeds from their Pishori trade, and beautiful women who would first pay with their flesh before being enlisted in the mafia-style organisation.

This, among many more issues, could have led to bitter fallout leading to Monday’s daylight murder of Samuel Mugoh Muvota, who has left behind seven grieving widows and countless children.

Forensic Cyber detectives picked Gachoki’s last signal deep inside Burnt Forest, hours after the murder and believe that the suspect has already crossed the border to a neighbouring country.
