KPA men’s team eyes success in Africa Volleyball Club Championships
The competition will provide an invaluable opportunity for the team to demonstrate their hard work, dedication, and skills
The Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) volleyball team has officially been flagged off for the highly anticipated 2025 Men’s African Volleyball Club Championship, set to take place in Misurata, Libya, from April 17 to April 30.
This prestigious event will bring together Africa’s top volleyball teams, showcasing the immense talent and competitive spirit across the continent.
The KPA delegation received strong backing from both KPA management and the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF), reflecting the organization’s commitment to promoting sports excellence. Catherine Wangare will serve as the head of delegation, supported by a team of officials, including Ben Juma from the KECOSO Committee, statistician Mark Mwangi, and Matthew Amuti, the Acting Managing Director of KPA.
Notably, Moses Mbuthia, the Deputy Treasurer of Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF), graced the occasion and offered his encouragement to the team. “I want to wish the team success and I know you have prepared well. So go and conquer and bring the country glory.”
This year’s championship promises to be a thrilling display of African volleyball prowess, with 26 teams, including three from Kenya, vying for the title. Representing Kenya will be the Kenya Ports Authority, General Service Unit, and Kenya Prisons volleyball teams. These clubs carry the aspirations of a proud nation, aiming to make their mark on the continental stage.
As of March 7, a total of 32 clubs from various African nations had registered for the tournament, highlighting the growing popularity and diversity of the sport in Africa. The competition will provide an invaluable opportunity for the KPA volleyball team to demonstrate their hard work, dedication, and skills.
Eng. Amuti extended his best wishes to the team, expressing confidence in their ability to excel at the championship. “I believe the team is fully prepared for the challenge ahead and it is very possible to do well in Libya,” he said.
