Al shabaab suspect blows himself using an IED killing man and wife in Nyakach, Kisumu County
Homicide and Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) detectives in Kisumu are investigating a case involving an Al shabaab terror suspect identified by the name John Odhiambo Ondiek alias ‘Pope’ who blew up himself in the compound of a neighbour killing the man of the house, his wife and badly injuring their daughter using an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
Pope, a profiled terror suspect had just resurfaced after following December 17, 2020 incident when he detonated an IED at Katito market trying to kill his girlfriend inside a house but she escaped unhurt.
The incident occurred at Kamloma village within Awach sub location.
According to preliminary police investigations, woman of the house died on the spot while her husband was pronounced dead upon arrival at Nyakach Sub County Hospital.
However, their daughter sustained serious injuries and is recuperating at the same hospital.
The terror suspect died on the spot and his body was positively identified.
