Wife from hell assault, scalds husband using corrosive substance in Muthaiga, Nairobi
A 53-year-old businesswoman and wife to a city tycoon has been charged with assault and causing bodily harm after she allegedly scalded her husband’s face with a corrosive substance suspected to be acidic following an altercation at their posh Muthaiga North residence.
While appearing before Makadara Law Courts Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti, Ann Njambi denied the charges.
She is accused of unlawfully assaulting and causing actual bodily harm to Anthony Mwangi in their house at Balozi estate in Muthaiga North, Nairobi on April 1, 2023.
Their dispute is said to arise from a property they co-own within Kiambu county and the dispute has existed since 2017.
On her part, jambi told the police officers that she was demanding money from her husband after he sold her car.
The court heard that Mwangi was leaving the bathroom at around 8am when his wife allegedly splashed a substance on his face before descending on him with kicks and brawls while demanding for money.
Consequently, the husband, Mwangi, escaped to safety outside the house and called police officers who proceeded to his house and rescued him.
The officers arrested Njambi and escorted her to the Muthaiga Police Station as Mwangi proceeded to hospital for treatment.
The following day, he returned to the hospital where he was informed that he had been splashed with a suspected poisonous chemical, which had affected his skin.
During investigations, Mwangi told the police that his wife had been threatening him for the past three years.
She was released on a cash bail of Sh15,000. The case will be mentioned on May 17, 2023 before the hearing starts on September 14, 2023.
