JSC begin interviews for High Court Judges
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has today kicked off the month-long process of interviewing shortlisted candidates to fill the twenty slots in the High Court.
The process which runs from today to November 3, 2022, will see a total of 104 candidates pass through the panel of eleven commissioners (Chief justice Martha Koome, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, Everlyn Olwade , justice Mohamed Warsame, Patrick Gichohi, Felix Koskei, A.G Paul Kihara Kariuki, Macharia Njeru, Justice David Majanja, Prof. Olive M. Mugenda, Ann A. Amadi) chaired by Koome.
Five candidates will be interviewed daily by the panel starting from 9:00 am with each interview going for an hour.
The first to take to stage on day one was Hon. Achieng Pamela, then followed by Hon. Adika Harrison Musa Sideje who is to be followed by Hon. Ado Moses Otieno, Hon. Amuga Paul and lastly Hon. Ameyo Edna Asachi.
Some of the issues the candidates have to react to during the interviews included; how to enhance the image of the judiciary, tackling corruption in the judiciary which stands at 7 per cent, cases management, the use of technology in handling cases, how to reduce backlog of cases as well as improving efficiency in the judicial system.
