Sakaja directs CBD landlords to repaint their buildings
According to the governor, the move will not only improve the city's appearance but also boost tourism.

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has ordered repainting all buildings within the Nairobi Central Business District.
The governor said buildings in the CBD and its environs must have a fresh coat of paint to ensure the city centre is clean as it is a regional commercial hub.
Speaking during a Church Service in Buruburu yesterday, Sakaja pointed out that the directive circular will be released next week to order all city building owners to paint the buildings afresh.
“As we continue to clean the city and remove all illegal hanging advertisements signages, we must know Nairobi is a commercial hub. We should make sure that it is clean and green. All buildings should be repainted,” Sakaja said.
The governor said his administration is concerned that some of the buildings have faded paint, and with repainting works, once done, if implemented successfully, this move could have a positive and lasting impact on the city’s overall appearance and image.
He added that the proposal for all city buildings to be repainted is a step in the right direction.
According to Sakaja, repainting will not only improve the city’s appearance but also boost tourism.
The order comes a few days after the administration banned hawking along walkways to improve pedestrian mobility and initiated the installation of cabro pavements to enhance the city’s infrastructure.
