Ruto taps Yuda Komora to chair National Police Service Commission
Angeline Yamiton Siparo has also been nominated as a member of the commission
Former immediate Salaries and Remuneration Commission vice chairman Amani Yuda Komora has been nominated to be the new chairperson for the National Police Service Commission.
This has been announced by the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, who has also announced that Angeline Yamiton Siparo has been nominated as a member of the commission.
“According to Article 250 (2) (b) of the constitution and Section 9 (5) of the National Police Service Act, President William Ruto has nominated Amani Yuda Komora and Angeline Yamiton Siparo to be Chairperson and Member of the National Police Service Commission (NPSC),” Koskei announced.
Before joining SRC, Komora previously served as the General Manager, Human Resource and Administration at the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), Assistant Commissioner, Human Resources at Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and a member of the National Wages Council.
He is also the founder and CEO of Opti-Leap Consulting and Advisory Services Ltd.
Before she was appointed a member of the NPSC, Siparo previously served as the coordinator for the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) legacy localisation project across 49 countries and the national chairperson of the National Aids Control Council between 2016 and 2022.
She has also worked at Oxford HR (Africa/CDC), Catholic Medical Mission Board (CMMB), Population Reference Bureau (PRB), UNAIDS, and Family Health International (FHI).
The nominations come after the selection panel conducted interviews and forwarded recommendations.
“This Presidential action follows recommendations of the selection panel appointed to recruit nominees for appointment as Chairperson and members of the NPSC as published in the gazette notice,” Koskei stated.
If approved by the National Assembly, the NPSC will be constituted of Komora as the chairperson, Peris Muthoni Kamau, Edwin Chelugut, Benjamin Juma Imai, Collette Suda, and Siparo as members.
Under the NPSC Act, the members will elect the vice chairperson from among themselves during their first meeting.
The positions had been left vacant after the Eliud Kinuthia-led commission’s term came to an end after six years in office. They took over from the inaugural commission, which was led by Johnstone Kavuludi.
