Nandi official commits suicide after Sang orders corruption probe

A Nandi procurement officer committed suicide after Governor Stephen Sang ordered investigations into corruption allegations.

Kevines Kemboi’s body was found dangling from a tree at his home near Namgoi market on Sunday.

Police are using a suicide note the official wrote for investigations.

In the note, Kemboi said he decided to take his life because of the probe ordered by the Governor.

Area police boss Peter Wambani said the officer requested tea from his wife who later left him watching football and went to bed.

“Later, she discovered he was not in the house and on searching, she found his body hanging from a tree in a cattle shed at the home.”

Wambani said the officer indicated in the suicide note that he should not be blamed for problems caused by his seniors.

“He indicated that the senior officers should carry the cross, not him,” Wambani said.
