The lead lawyer representing former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi, Danstan Omari has failed to avail himself at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters after being summoned by superintendent of police Michael Sang for grilling over the alleged police raid at the former CS’s home.

Speaking today morning, the lawyer said that he had rescheduled the meeting to tomorrow stating that he had more than 15 court cases to handle at Milimani law courts.

“Anybody looking for me I will be in Milimani… It is communicated to DCI. I will be busy defending my clients today,” expressed Omari.

The summon letter issued by Sang stated that Omari was under investigations over allegations of Publication of False Information contrary to section 23 of the computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act 2018 amongst other offences in regard to an alleged invasion and at the former Interior minister’s home on the 8th, 9th day of February 2023 by a “battalion” and/or “garrison” of police officers.

“I have reasons to believe that you, Danstan Omari, an Advocate of the High court of Kenya, is connected to the offence or has information which can assist me in my investigations,” stated detective Sang.

The Law Society of Kenya, Nairobi branch led by Helen Namisi through a statement today has called on its members to stand in solidarity with Omari who is one of their own over his summoning by DCI.

The society claimed that the summon was meant to intimidate and stop Omari from discharging his duties as an advocate.
