Post-mortem of slain IEBC official to be conducted today

The post-mortem of the body of the murdered IEBC official who was found dead in Loitokitok on Monday will be conducted today.

Daniel Muthoka’s body was discovered by Maasai herders along Meriko River, five days after he was reported missing.

His two sisters, Mary Mwikali and Ann Mboya, identified the body on Monday and  the post-mortem is expected to establish the cause of his death.

The government pathologist is expected at Loitokitok sub-county hospital mortuary and will be accompanied by the family’s doctor to carry out the post-mortem.

The family members of the deceased will also be present during the examination.

The IEBC official disappeared at around 9:45 am on August 11, from the East African School of Aviation tallying centre.

Wafula Chekuati, IEBC Chairman stated that they had tried to reach him but to no avail.

“Musyoka’s family and the Commission have been trying to reach him without success. A report of a missing person has been made at Embakasi Police Station,” Chebukati said on Monday.

Muthuri Mwongera, Kajiado County Police Commander said on Tuesday that the recovered body had marks around the neck, hands, and legs.

Mwongera said that the scene where the body was discovered showed that there had been a struggle between the killers and the victim.
