Wanted English Point Marina director Nazir Jinnah arrested at JKIA en route to Dubai
Nazir was intercepted by detectives backed by Immigration officers at JKIA’s international departures Terminal 1B departures just minutes before he boarded Emirates flight number EK722.
Controversial businessman and one of the directors of English Point Marina in Mombasa Nazir Bhadurali Nurmohamed Jinnah was yesterday evening arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) minutes before he boarded a Dubai-bound Emirates bound flight to the United Arabs Emirates (UAE).
Investigations by The Informer Media Group has established that Nazir’s arrest came shortly after sleuths attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations issued a stop order against him after being implicated in an ongoing forgery case against him.
Nazir was intercepted by detectives backed by Immigration officers at JKIA’s international departures Terminal 1B departures just minutes before he boarded Emirates flight number EK722.
“He is a person of interest in an ongoing matter.” Our source revealed.
Nazir is not new to controversy.
In 2020, while appearing before Resident Magistrate Muthoni Nzibe, Nazir was charged before a Nairobi court impersonating a partner of veteran lawyer John Khaminwamand and pleaded not guilty.
He was accused that between the year 2013 and 2017 in Nairobi county with intent to defraud Harbas Singh Birdi falsely presented he was an advocate of the High Court as an associate of Khaminwa & Khaminwa Advocates.
Nazir is also involved in a protracted row with KCB Group alongside other directors after the bank seized Pearl Beach Hotels, the owning real estate firm, under statutory management due to an outstanding debt of Sh5.2billion.
Despite attempts to restructure the loan, the owners failed to meet their payment obligations, leading to the appointment of a receiver-manager to oversee the asset.
The situation took a dramatic turn when Nazir accused KCB Group of alleged laundering Sh69billion from South Sudan through the hotel’s accounts.
English Point Marina, a prestigious property situated by Mombasa Harbour, comprises 96 apartments, eight penthouses, and a 26-room hotel.
The property in question has been in a long legal battle that is far from over and is owned by Amin Kanji, his wife Leila, brother Alnoor, sister-in-law Nafisa, and Nazir.
