Police gun down three robbers in Nairobi’s Tena Estate
Three robbers were shot dead during dawn gunfight with police officers
in Nairobi’s Tena Estate.
An AK 47 rifle, a tokalev pistol, a magazine, three bullets and motor
vehicle and a toyota Axio bearing registration number KBY 087L were
recovered during the 3 am operation.
During the shoot out, one of the undercover officers attached to
Buruburu Directorate of Criminal Investigations was killed by the
robbers.
Also recovered were several vehicle ignition keys, seven motor vehicle
switches and four mobile phones.
One of the suspects, armed with another AK 47, rifle escaped on foot.
Ballistic experts are analysing the firearms recovered.
“After pursuing them for 200 meters, a shootout ensued and three of
the male occupants were shot dead on the spot,” Ikiao said.
Ikiao said the officers alerted their colleagues who joined them to
track the suspects.
The gunmen are said to have been from Kayole when they were spotted
before Kayole police patrol team informed their colleagues from
Buruburu Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) who joined them
along Manyanja Road.
At the Kifaru roundabout, about 200 meters from Harry’s Tavern club, a
shootout ensued and three of the male occupants were shot dead.
The bodies were taken to City Mortuary for postmortem analysis and
positive identification.
