NPSC shortlist 10 candidates to replace Kinoti as DCI Director
The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has released a list of ten shortlisted candidates to replace George Kinoti who resigned as Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The list was severely trimmed down from the 253 who had applied for the position.
Through a statement, NPSC stated that all 10 candidates had received a notice to appear for interviews on Tuesday at the Kenya School of Government, lower Kabete, Nairobi.
“The 10 candidates, each of whom seek to fill the vacant position left by former DCI Director George Kinoti, CBS, have been invited for interviews and vetting on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Kenya School of Government, lower Kabete in Nairobi,” read a statement by NPSC.
Amin Ibrahim Mohamed who is Director of the agency’s internal affairs, Bernard Barasa Walumoli, Eliud Kipkoech Lagat who is the Director of DCI reforms, Gideon Nyale Munga, the Inspector General of Police’s personal assistant and Esther Chepkosgei Seroney are among the shortlisted candidates.
Others are Dr. Simon Mwangi Wanderi, head of DCI Railways, David Kipkosgey Birech who is the Director of Police Reforms, Jonyo Michael Wiso, Paul Jimmie and Nicholas Ireri Kamwende who is the Director of Planning at DCI.

Eliud Kinuthia, head of NPSC requested the general public to provide written testimonials on any of the candidates to [email protected].
All applicants were instructed to bring their national identification cards, academic credentials (including transcripts), professional credentials, and any other supporting documentation.
Additionally, they must get approval from DCI, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and a reliable credit reference agency.
In a letter to President William Ruto, Kinoti announced his resignation from the office and requested a transfer to the Public Service Commission (PSC).
Following the interviews, Ruto will be given names of three candidates, and will make his decision seven days after getting the list of shortlisted candidates.
Police Spokesperson Bruno Shioso, John Gachomo’s DCI head of investigations, and the agency’s head of Banking Fraud Investigations Unit are notable applicants that were rejected.
