Nine dead after crane crushes at construction site in Hurlingham, Nairobi

Tragedy as at least nine people are reported dead at a construction site along Argwings Kodhek in Hurlighum, Nairobi.

Confirming the incident, Kilimani OCPD Muturi Mbogo said one of victims survived with serious injuries and was taken to Nairobi Women’s Hospital.

According to Mbogo, a crane crashed as the workers were using it to construct the 14-storey building.

“…the crane collapsed as it was being dismantled. Investigators are working to know how and why it happened,” he said.

The site opposite the Department of Defence (DoD) headquarters, was a construction site for Qwetu Residences.

Police and military personnel joined in the rescue efforts.

The nine bodies have since been moved to Chiromo mortuary.
