Mudavadi’s plea to the Supreme Court
National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal Musalia Mudavadi has asked the Supreme Court to deliver justice to Kenyans following the coalition’s filing of a petition seeking to invalidate presidential results.
Mudavadi said their fate now lies with lawyers, court judges and God for a favorable outcome on their plea.
He said the seven bench judges to decide their fate should each pronounce their verdict and be heard by Kenyans on their preferred decision.
“We don’t want justice to be frustrated. Let them read their verdicts individually and tell Kenyans their stand in broad daylight,” he said.
Mudavadi was speaking today at Kidundu grounds during the swearing in ceremony of Vihiga County incoming governor Wilber Ottichilo and his deputy Patrick Saisi by Justice Hellen Omondi.
“We want leaders to be elected in a transparent manner devoid of irregularities. We are waiting for the courts to make their ruling,” said Mudavadi.
He called on the MCAs elect to take their roles seriously and act as a watchdog to hold the executive accountable for shrewd use of scarce resources in the county.
He urged the elected governor to consult with various leaders to steer the county ahead in terms of development.
“As a best performer with the use of NG-CDF kitty nationwide while you were Emuhaya MP, we hope the achievement will be trickled to the County,” said Mudavadi amid applause from the audience.
He added that devolution must work and there would be no political interference to derail the newly elected governor objectives.
Musalia congratulated the outgoing governor Moses Akaranga as pioneer governor who amid challenges did his best to improve the lives of the residents.
“The new governor will take stern and painful measures to reduce the wage bill and ensure accountability on every employee for the success of his regime,” said Mudavadi.
The ceremony was attended by outgoing deputy governor Caleb Amaswache, Senator elect George Khaniri, MPs elect Chris Omulele (Luanda), Omboko Milemba (Emuhaya), Ernest Ogesi (Vihiga) Charles Gimose (Hamisi) and Alfred Agoi (Sabatia) among other leaders.
