Government to set aside Sh200M to pay ADC workers

The government will set aside Sh 200 million in the  2017/18 budget to enable Agricultural  Development Cooperation (ADC) pay its workers who had earlier threatened to down tools, Deputy president William Ruto has said.

ADC employees are demanding 12 years salary arrears. Ruto said the government has moved with speed to address the issue that has been affecting hundreds of families for years. “As a government we want to ensure  that ADC workers  will get their  payments  for the services they have rendered to the cooperation and  that is  the reason we have ordered for the  clearance of their salaries arrears,”  Said Ruto.

He implored on the residents of  Trans Nzoia county to vote for the  Jubilee government because of the  development initiatives it has undertaken in the region. Ruto said the Jubilee government has constructed a bulls station in Endebes constituency to  help farmers access quality semen for better animal breed.

The  Sh800 million project is expected to serve  Trans Nzoia ,west Pokot , Bungoma  and Uasin Gishu counties. He added that the government is committed  at improving the  agricultural  sector in the county and  urged the  residents to adopt  the new farming techniques   Ruto disclosed further that the government will in April  commission the  construction of Endebes –Suam Road to help boost cross border business between Kenya and Uganda.

The deputy president was speaking  yesterday  in Endebes constituency where he commissioned the  Endebes Technical Training Institute. Ruto said Jubilee has increased its support in areas that were perceived to be Opposition strongholds, an indication that voters were believing in its ideologies of peace, poverty alleviation, one nation that Kenyans will be proud of to be citizens.

He said more than 130 Technical institutions have been constructed across the country to help youths acquire technical skills and competencies adding that the Jubilee government will continue paying examination fees for KCPE and KCSE candidates as one of the ways of enabling more children access Education.

He said the claims by the opposition that the Jubilee government has done nothing for Kenyans are unfounded. He said more that  more than 81,000 families in Trans Nzoia have now been connected to power   compared to 21,000 before the Jubilee administration came into power.
