Ministry of Defence announce weeklong KDF recruitment slated for next month

While cautioning members of the the public against engaging in bribery or corruption in a bid to influence the process, KDF said the process is free and open to all eligible and qualified candidates

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has announced a recruitment exercise set to take place in various sub-counties beginning mid next month.

In a notice issued today, the Ministry of Defence said the exercise will target General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets, both regular and Graduate, Specialist Officers, General Duty Recruits, Tradesmen and women, as well as Defence Forces Constables.

While cautioning members of the the public against engaging in bribery or corruption in a bid to influence the process, KDF said the process is free and open to all eligible and qualified candidates.

MoD warned  that any such act constitutes a criminal offence.

The ministry urged members of the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station, military camp, or through the provided hotline numbers.

“Any individual found to be involved in recruitment-related malpractice will be arrested and prosecuted. The Public is urged to report any incidents of recruitment malpractice to the nearest Police Station or Military Camp or call the dedicated Hotline numbers: 0726419706/0726419709,” the notice stated in part.

It noted that successful applicants in the various categories will undergo verification and training at designated KDF institutions.

Minimum academic qualifications have also been outlined, including a KCSE grade of B (Plain) with C+ in English, Mathematics and one science subject for GSO Cadets (Regular), while graduate cadet applicants are required to hold a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.

The KDF recruitment comes days after the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) cautioned members of the public against a fraudulent recruitment notice making rounds on social media.

The police commission confirmed that the notice is fake and intended to mislead unsuspecting applicants.

“The National Police Service Commission has noted with concern a fake recruitment notice circulating on social media purporting to announce the recruitment of police constables and directing applicants to an unauthorized online link,” the statement read.

It warned the public to ignore the misleading message and only rely on official communication platforms for accurate information.

The Commission reassured Kenyans that a genuine recruitment drive is in the works and that updates will be communicated at the appropriate time.

“In accordance with its Constitutional mandate, the Commission notified the public that preparations for a legitimate recruitment exercise are underway. The Commission therefore urges members of the public to remain vigilant and ignore fraudulent notices intended to mislead and exploit unsuspecting applicants,” it advised.
