Uhuru fail to give Raila a win in his Gatundu home polling station

Raila Odinga failed to garner sufficient votes in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s polling station.

The Azimio presidential candidate lost to his rival in Mutomo Primary School in Gatundu South where the President cast his vote.

In accordance with Form 34As uploaded on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) portal which featured results from the four streams within the school, Raila got 464 votes while his close opponent Deputy President William Ruto garnered 983 votes.

George Wajackoyah, Roots Party Leader had 9 votes while Agano party Waihiga Mwaure had 4 votes.

The polling station recorded a low voter turnout.

Gatundu South Member of Parliament candidate Peter Kibathi stated that the bad weather conditions might have led to the low turnout of voters.

“I would like to congratulate IEBC for doing a good job but the number of voters is very low compared to previous elections,” he said.

The former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta and the outgoing First Lady Margaret Kenyatta cast their votes in the said polling station.

The president had earlier lauded the process, terming it very quick and transparent.

He also urged Kenyans to maintain peace and order during this election period.
