Match your talk with action, Karua tell opponents ahead of August polls

Azimio la Umoja Coalition presidential running Martha Karua has urged leaders to match their talk with action.

Speaking during the National Prayer Breakfast, Karua called for sanity among politicians as the country gears towards the August elections.

Karua who was representing her flag bearer Raila Odinga, asked leaders to lessen political tensions in the country by exercising tolerance towards each other.

“We have heard the message from the clergy and we remember that our constitution acknowledges the supremacy of God… We pray that after these prayers, moving forward, that our actions match our words,” Karua said.

“Especially us leaders, even as we compete, we compete with ideas not insults, that we lessen the tension in the nation by the way we interact with one another.” She added.

In a breach of protocol, Karua was invited on stage by Deputy President William Ruto to make her remarks which saw the two political rivals embrace each other.

The prayer meeting was attended by state officials, religious leaders, elected leaders, and members of the judiciary led by Chief Justice Martha Koome.

Representatives from the US and EAC member states of Uganda, Rwanda and DRC were also present.
