Detectives based in Njiru have launched a manhunt for thugs who attacked a General Service Unit officer yesterday night.
The officer, in the company of two women, was walking from Mihang’o trading centre to the paramilitary training camp when the assailants struck.
According to Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the two women escaped following the attack leaving the officer to handle it out with the two thugs.
“Unbeknownst to the miscreants, they had just encountered a drill instructor and a stickman par excellence, with a colourful career spanning over 10 years of training several details of paramilitary red berets,” stated DCI.
The injured officer was rushed to Ruai hospital for treatment.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the thugs had earlier staged two separate attacks in Embakasi and Njiru, where they robbed innocent members of the public of their mobile phones, cash and other valuables.
